Boiling Point
Liquid helium is the standard cooling medium for superconducting MRI and NMR magnets, holding coil temperatures near absolute zero so the magnet can stay superconducting. At that temperature, small handling errors — a slow delivery, a poor-fitting adaptor, an under-insulated dewar — translate directly into boil-off and cost.
Xpress Helium supplies LHe exclusively in purpose-built cryogenic dewars, each fitted with an electrical heater to manage internal pressure during transit and standing time. Every delivery arrives with three sets of brass adaptors, covering the common connection types across MRI and NMR systems, so transfer can begin without a parts delay.
We size the dewar to the application rather than defaulting to one format — a 100L dewar for NMR applications, a 250L dewar for routine MRI top-ups, and a 400L dewar for MRI pre-cooling and new magnet installations. This application-based approach ensures the right capacity for each job while optimizing helium handling, logistics, and operational efficiency.
All three sizes ship with an electrical heater and the same three-adaptor-set standard, so the only real decision is volume.

Helium purity is read as the number of “nines” after the decimal — each additional nine strips out more residual moisture, nitrogen and other trace gases. We supply against both grades below, matched to what the equipment actually requires.

Liquid helium is extremely cold, expands roughly 700 times in volume as it warms to gas, and needs proper ventilation and pressure management throughout transfer. Our delivery and transfer teams are trained specifically on cryogenic handling — not general industrial gas — before they touch a dewar on your site.
