Xpress Helium

HE-04 · Applications Line

Helium for Industry & Science.

Beyond MRI, helium is a working input across semiconductor lines, fibre optics, leak testing, research labs and aerospace — supplied in the purity grade and format each application actually needs.

Why It Matters Here

One gas, doing very different jobs

Helium shows up in industry and science for reasons that have little to do with each other — its thermal conductivity in a semiconductor line, its inertness in a weld pool, its tiny molecule size in a leak-testing rig, its low boiling point in a cryostat. What stays constant is that the purity grade and packaging format have to match the job, not the other way round.

Xpress Helium supplies both standard (5.0) and ultra-high purity (6.0) grades, in liquid or gas, sized from a single lab cylinder to manifolded industrial bundles — so research and production lines aren’t working around a supplier’s default format.

Where It's Used

Applications across industry and science

The same purity grades and supply formats serve very different lines — from cleanroom fabs to open aerospace test benches.

Semiconductor Manufacturing

Helium's high thermal conductivity makes it the carrier and cooling gas of choice across wafer fabrication and chip packaging lines.

Fiber Optic Cable Production

Used as a controlled-atmosphere and cooling gas during fibre draw, where trace contaminants can affect optical quality.

Leak Testing & Detection

Trace-gas leak detection across pipelines, pressure vessels and sealed assemblies, using helium's small molecule size to find leaks other methods miss.

Scientific Research

A stable, inert carrier and cooling medium for research instrumentation, from spectrometry to low-temperature physics.

Cryogenics & Cooling

Liquid and gaseous helium for cooling below the range other cryogens can reach, including superconducting systems beyond MRI.

Laboratory Calibration

Balance and zero gas for calibration mixtures and analytical instrumentation where a stable reference gas matters.

Aerospace & Aviation

Purging, pressurising and leak-testing applications across rocket propulsion systems, fuel tanks and airframe components.

Industrial Manufacturing

Inert shielding for welding, controlled atmospheres for heat treatment, and process gas across specialty manufacturing lines.

Purity & Quality

Grade matters as much as volume

Helium purity is read as the number of “nines” after the decimal — each additional nine strips out more residual moisture, nitrogen and other trace gases. We supply against both grades below, matched to what the equipment actually requires.

5.0

Standard Purity — 99.999%

Suitable for general cryogenic use, leak testing, welding shielding and industrial process lines where trace-level contaminants aren't process-critical.

6.0

Ultra-High Purity — 99.9999%

Used for semiconductor process lines, research instrumentation, calibration standards and sensitive laboratory work.

Working With Technical Teams

Procurement that understands what the lab actually asked for

Requests from a fab engineer, a lab manager and a plant supervisor rarely look the same on paper. Our technical team reads the spec, not just the order quantity, before confirming a delivery.
